What are web fonts?

Web fonts are typefaces that are loaded from an external server, for example via Google Fonts. Unlike system fonts (like Arial or Times New Roman), web fonts aren't available on every device by default.

With Xendy, you can choose from a wide range of Google Fonts, including Open Sans, Lato, Roboto, Poppins, and Montserrat.

Support per email client

Not all email clients support external web fonts. Here's an overview:

Why aren't web fonts always displayed?

Many email clients block external web fonts for security and privacy reasons. Loading fonts from external servers can be seen as a risk or as a way to track open and click behavior.

On top of that, some clients use outdated rendering engines (like Outlook for Windows with Microsoft Word), which simply don't support web fonts.

Automatic fallbacks in Xendy

Xendy always takes care of automatic fallbacks. If a web font fails to load, the email automatically switches to Arial and then to Helvetica. That way your email always stays readable and consistent, no matter which email client your recipient uses.

If a web font isn't supported, the email client automatically uses a fallback font. Xendy handles this by default: it falls back to Arial and then to Helvetica.
