Causes

  • Webshop import: if your webshop is connected to Xendy, all new customers and sign-ups are automatically imported. Spam sign-ups in your webshop will therefore also end up in Xendy.
  • Forms or pop-ups: contact forms or pop-ups without protection (like reCAPTCHA) can be filled in by spam bots. These spam sign-ups are forwarded to Xendy via webhooks.
  • External integrations: connections with systems like CRMs, lead tools, or chat modules sometimes pass along spam contacts if they don't have a filter in place.

Step 1: Fix the root cause

Always do this first, otherwise the spam contacts will just come back after you delete them.

  • Add a reCAPTCHA or other protection to your forms.
  • Check your webshop or integrations for fake sign-ups.
  • Set up a filter in your external system (for example: only forward real customers).

Step 2: Remove spam contacts in Xendy

  1. Go to All contacts in the left menu.
  2. Search for the spam addresses using the search bar.
  3. Click the 3 dots next to a contact and select Delete. You can also select multiple contacts and delete them in bulk.

Heads up: did a spam contact come from a webshop or other external system? Make sure to delete it there too, otherwise it'll automatically be added again on the next import.

Automatically block spam contacts

Via an automatic block list, you can automatically exclude spam contacts. Contacts that match your configured rules will no longer receive emails.

  1. Go to Blocked contacts in the left menu.
  2. Click All blocked contacts in the top right and choose Create new block list.
  3. Choose Automatic blocking and click Next.
  4. Give the list a title (for example Spam block list) and click Create block list.
  5. Click on Filter rules and add a rule via New rule:
    • Field: Customer field: email address
    • Condition: Contains
    • Value: .ru (to block Russian email addresses — replace this with the desired value)
  6. Click Save and verify that the list shows the correct contacts.

From now on, all contacts that match the rule will automatically be excluded.
