Preparing for the switch

Good preparation makes the migration smooth. Go through this checklist before you get started:

  1. Gather your account details – Make sure you have access to your Brevo account and that you have admin rights.
  2. Take stock of what you want to bring over:
    • Contacts: only export active subscribers, not unsubscribed or outdated contacts.
    • Templates: note which email templates you want to recreate.
    • Campaign insights: save performance data as a reference.
  3. Clean up your contact list – Remove invalid addresses, duplicates, and unsubscribed contacts. Segment your audience for an organized import.
  4. Decide which automations you want to recreate – Make a list of your workflows (e.g. welcome emails, abandoned cart reminders) and note the triggers, timing, and email content.
  5. Prepare for domain verification – Make sure you have access to your domain's DNS settings. Xendy will provide the required DNS records during the setup process.

Exporting your contacts from Brevo

Follow these steps to download your contacts from Brevo:

  1. Log in to Brevo.com.
  2. Go to Contacts via the left menu and find the list you want to export.
  3. Export as CSV – Click the Export button at the top of the page and choose CSV. Brevo will send a download link to your email address.
  4. Download the file – Click the link in your email and save the CSV file to your computer.
  5. Check and clean up the file:
    • Make sure all email addresses are formatted correctly.
    • Remove unsubscribed or invalid contacts.
    • Make sure fields like name, email, and custom fields are labeled correctly for a smooth import.

Importing your contacts into Xendy

  3. Upload your file – Choose the Upload contacts option and drag your Brevo export file (.csv or .xlsx) into the upload window, or select it manually.
  4. Map your fields – Xendy will ask you to map the columns from your CSV (e.g. email address, name) to the correct fields in Xendy.
