Preparing for the switch

A little preparation makes the migration a lot smoother. Go through this checklist before you get started:

  1. Gather your account info – Make sure you have access to your Klaviyo account and that you have admin rights.
  2. Review your Klaviyo data – Decide what you want to bring over: active contacts, email templates, and campaign insights as a reference.
  3. Clean up your contact list – Remove invalid addresses, duplicates, and unsubscribed contacts. Segment your audience for an organized import.
  4. Decide which automations you want to rebuild – Note the triggers, timing, and email content of each workflow you want to recreate in Xendy.
  5. Get ready for domain verification – Make sure you have access to your domain's DNS settings. Xendy will provide the necessary DNS records during the setup process.

Exporting contacts from Klaviyo

Follow these steps to download your contacts from Klaviyo:

  1. Log in to Klaviyo at klaviyo.com.
  2. Go to Lists & Segments in the left menu and select the list or segment you want to export.
  3. Export the list – Click the 'Manage list' dropdown in the top right and choose 'Export list to CSV'.
  4. Download the file – Once the export is ready, download the CSV file via the notification in Klaviyo or through the export section of your account.
  5. Check and clean the file – Verify that email addresses are formatted correctly, remove unsubscribed or bounced contacts, and make sure fields like name and email are labeled correctly.

Importing contacts into Xendy

Now that your CSV file is ready, import your contacts into Xendy:

  2. Go to All contacts in the left menu.
  3. Click 'Add contacts' in the top right.
  4. Upload your file – Choose the option to upload a CSV or Excel file and drag your exported Klaviyo file into the upload window, or click to select it.

Verifying your domain and sending your first email

To send emails from your own domain, you'll need to verify it in Xendy:

  • Make sure you have access to your domain's DNS settings (e.g. through GoDaddy or Namecheap).
  • Xendy will provide the necessary DNS records during the setup process — just add them at your domain host.

Once your domain is verified and your contacts are imported, you're ready to create and send your first campaign. Need help? Xendy offers personal support with every plan, free of charge.
